Fabrik für Wohnungs-Einrichtungen samt Zubehör

Die Firma Portois & Fix, deren Blütezeit um 1900 war, wurde 1881 von Anton Fix (1845–1918) und dem Franzosen Auguste Portois gegründet. 1899 errichtete Max Fabiani ein neues Geschäftshaus für Portois & Fix in der Ungargasse. Neben Entwürfen der eigenen Designer wurden auch Möbel nach den Entwürfen bedeutender Künstler wie Koloman Moser, Josef Hoffmann und Leopold Bauer hergestellt. Portois & Fix beteiligte sich mit größtem Erfolg an in- und ausländischen Ausstellungen.

Factory for Furnishings and Fittings

The cabinet maker Portois & Fix was founded in 1881 by Anton Fix (1845–1918) and Frenchman Auguste Portois. The heyday of the company was around the turn of the century. In 1899, new and modern premises were built from plans by Max Fabiani in Ungargasse. Apart from the work of in-house designers, the company produced furniture by such notable artists as Koloman Moser, Josef Hoffmann and Leopold Bauer. Portois & Fix participated in various exhibitions both in Austria and abroad with notable success.
