A company in Lower Austria that was founded in 1843 by Alexander Schoeller and Alfred Krupp. The company manufactured cutlery. By 1879, the company already employed 1,000 people. The bear was used as a trademark together with the name of the town of Berndorf. The imperial family was also among the customers. In 1897, Berndorf was awarded the title of K & K purveyor to the court. At the beginning of the 20th century, Berndorf worked with renowned artists. Otto Prutscher, Philipp Häusler and Michael Powolny, among others, designed new cutlery lines for Berndorf.  In 1914, the company in Berndorf already had 6,000 employees. In 1918, Krupp bought and integrated the former Hofsielber supplier Klinkosch (see Klinkosch).
