Düsseldorf 1868 – 1922 Munich

Deiters studied first at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art mainly in Eduard von Gebhardt’s master studio though his view of art did not appeal to him so that it little impact. In Paris, the woman painter R. Collin and American Sprague Pearce influenced him. He worked on studies and nudes in the open. He is regarded as an imaginative artist with the light-hearted agility for which he was taken to task by the art critics of the time. In the final years of his life, Hans Deiters turned to lithographs and book illustration.
