Vienna 1884 – 1967 Frankfurt am Main

He received his education at the Fachschule für Textilindustrie [Textile Industry Technical College] and the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts under Bertold Löffler and Carl Otto Czeschka. Along with fellow student Oskar Kokoschka, he worked for the Wiener Werkstätte. In 1907, he became a teacher at the Magdeburg College of Arts and Crafts and in 1909, he was called to Hamburg. From 1913 on, he taught at the School of Arts and Crafts in Frankfurt, and later in the graphics department of the Städelschen Art School.

In addition to teaching activities, he was also a stage designer, graphic artist and designer of wall paintings, jewellery, silverware and tapestries.
