1895 - Vienna - 1960

landscape and genre painter and graphic artist

While working as a lithographer, Huber attended an evening course at the School of Arts and Crafts studying under O. Prutscher and K. Witzmann and developing his painting as an autodidact. His first success was an exhibition in 1919. In 1920, on the recommendation of J. Hoffmann, he became a member of the “Kunstschau”, an artist group that included Boeckl, Faistauer, Kokoschka, Kolig and Wiegele. In 1930, he became a member of the Vienna Secession. He travelled widely but painted extensively in Austria, too. Huber is one of the most popular Austrian painters of the 20th century.
