Born on November 22, 1887 in Vienna, died on February 5, 1961 in Vienna. He received his training at the Vienna Academy under Rudolf Bacher from 1907 to 1914. From 1927 to 1947 he was a professor at the Vienna Women's Academy. Subsequently, he was temporarily active in St. Gilgen. Frescoes by his hand can be found in the Burgenland Landhaus. The Austrian Gallery in Vienna keeps a female portrait, a self-portrait and two landscapes by him. In the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna are his paintings "Mother and Child" and "Nibelungen Wedding". In April 1949, a special exhibition of his works was held. He was a creator of expressive figures and landscapes. From 1919 to 1939 and from 1946 members of the Vienna Secession; from 1926 to 1929 its president, then honorary member. In 1926 he received the Austrian State Prize, in 1928 the German Reich Prize of Honor and the Golden Medal of the City of Düsseldorf, and in the same year the Medal of Honor of the City of Nuremberg.
