Founder member of the Vienna Secession 1897

Student at the Austrian Museum School for Arts and Crafts and then at the Academy. Subsequently studied in Munich. Originally employed as wood engraver for book illustrations (The Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in words and pictures). Founding member of the Secession. He made a lot of illustrations and wood cuts for ¨Ver Sacrum¨ In addition he painted numerous oil paintings and made hammered metal work in the Secessionist style. His work was shown regularly in the exhibitions in the Secession (Maskentanz / Masked Ball,1904, Die Gefangene / The Prisoner 1905, Abschied /Leave-taking 1910 etc.) as well as taking part in important international art exhibitions – the Große Kunstausstellung Dresden 1901, 1904; in the Munich Glass palace 1901, 1909. At the Rome International Exhibition in 1911, König was represented by a painting ¨Jägerinnen¨ (Amazones).
