Lovinac 1874 – 1956 Zagreb

Painter and designer of arts and crafts

She studied at the School of Applied Arts in Vienna (J. Hoffmann, K. Moser, S. Schwartz). She painted portraits of women and children, created designs for furniture, art glass and bronze objects, light fixtures and decorative fabrics. Her bronze vases based on animal forms (e.g., bats, fish, or owls), commissioned by the Viennese firm E. Bakalowits & Söhne around 1903, are well known. The Viennese factory for silverware Alexander Sturm produced metal tableware based on her designs, and the Josef Böck company produced ceramics and porcelain. She often collaborated with her teacher J. Hoffmann. She participated in the arts and crafts exhibitions at the ÖMKI, and in 1904 she presented her work at the exhibition Der gedeckte Tisch at the MGM in Brno. In March 1906 she moved to Italy, where her trace is lost.
