Born on January 8, 1874 in Czernowitz, died on November 30, 1951 in Vienna.

He received his first drawing lessons from Anton Hlavacek in 1888/89 and studied at the Technical University in Vienna from 1892 to 1899. After attending the Vienna Academy under Otto Wagner, he worked as an architect in Vienna, Dresden and in the Austrian lands. As a painter and graphic artist, he undertook numerous study trips in Europe from 1904. From 1907 to 1922 he was a member of the Hagenbund. From 1925 to 1939 and from 1945 to 1950 member of the Vienna Secession. From 1929 member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus.
