Student at the Münchner Akademie, 1913-24 head of the School of Arts and

Crafts in Munich, and from 1926 head of the Kölner Werkschulen. Co-founder of the Münchner Werkstätten für Handwerkskunst and pioneer of the modern Arts and Crafts movement in Germany. Important promoter of lifestyle and interior designs in Germany. Numerous important public commissions and distinctions.
