Having enjoyed friendly relations with Josef Hoffmann, the architect and co-founder of both the Vienna Secession and the Wiener Werkstätten, and upon his recommendation, Emil Orlik took part in the Austrian Art Exhibition in Stockholm in 1917 and in Copenhagen in 1917/18.
