About the artist Vienna, around 1815
Material Brass and bronze, fine guilloché, original fire gold plating, two feet added, approx. 36-hour movement, enamelled dial, lever escapement, thread suspended pendulum, ½ hour strike on a bell, strike repetition, 2 feet in the rear replaced, movement has been overhauled by an expert clock-maker, first class original condition

Excellent work of a Viennese clockmaker

The Sphinxes both guard and support the temple on which a Vestal Virgin is making an offering to the sacred eternal flame of Vesta.
