Emanuel Josef Margold was born in Vienna on 4 May 1889. In 1903, he started his training as carpenter at the College for Woodwork in Königsberg/Eger. He continued his education at the School of Arts and Crafts in Mainz under Anton Huber, and from 1906, he studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vienna under Josef Hoffmann. Worked with Hoffman from 1910 to 1912; completed works for the Wiener Werkstätte; exhibited in 1913 in the Künstlerkolonie Darmstadt. Margold factory building of the Bahlsen company in Hanover and also makes numerous designs for biscuit tins. Moves to Berlin in 1929. Takes part in numerous exhibitions including the 1908 and the 1909 Kunstschau in Vienna, the 1910 Hunting Exhibition, the 1911 International Art Exhibition in Rome and exhibitions in the Austrian Museum of Art and Industry.
